Launched in 2017 as part of the town's 70th anniversary celebrations, the awards were designed to celebrate everything Harlow Town Centre. Now in it's third year the Awards have continued to grow, becoming a true celebration for the companies, organisations, community groups and staff and volunteers in recognition of their hard work and commitment to making Harlow Town Centre a retail, leisure and community destination for all.

Harlow Town Centre is a unique place, in 1952 when the town centres master plan was unveiled by the Development Corporation Sir Fredrick Gibberd said that Harlow Town Centre was:

"Designed to be the focus of the town’s civic, business and
social life’ and the ‘visual focus of the town."

Harlow Town Centre has long played a significant role in Harlow and for the town’s residents. Whether it has been somewhere we have worked, shopped or played, the town centre has been a consistent feature in the town’s history and will continue to be so in the future. To celebrate the role of the town centre, it’s people and places Harlow Council and Phoenix Resource Centre partnered to create the Harlow Town Centre Awards.

The awards, which will take place annually, have been created to recognise and celebrate the town centre and the people that make it what it is. With a variety of categories from Retailer of the Year, Community Project of the Year to Employee of the Year, there is a category for every shop, business and organisation as well as every individual and team.
